Create Animations Offline on Google Photos

Google Photos app for Android now has more offline capabilities. It’s now possible to create animations using the app even without a working internet connection.

To create animations while offline on Google Photos,  follow these simple steps:

  1. Temporarily put your Android device in airplane mode,
  2. Open the Google Photos app,
  3. Open up the Assistant tab on the Google Photos app,
  4. Tap the “Create new animation” button at the top,
  5. Select between 2 and 50 photos, and click “Create.”
  6. The app will immediately show you your new creation — a GIF (animation) that’s stored locally on your phone.

Once you’ve restored your connection, the app will back up your new animations to Google’s remote cloud storage.

In order to create animations offline, make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of the app
To create animations using photos which is not locally stored on your device, connect to Wi-Fi.

This isn’t the first feature from Google Photos that works offline, and you can also make collages using the app.
